Hollywood Wax Museum to Hold Historic Auction

This week, the Hollywood Wax Museum announced that they will be auctioning nearly 200 of their wax figures. Unlike the Movieland Wax Museum auction, they are not closing. They are cleaning house so to speak, and many of the figures are not actually as popular as they were when they were first sculpted. The auction will feature wax celebrities, musicians, historical, and religious figures, as well as sports icons and memorabilia. It's the perfect chance for any wax figure collector to grab up one of their very own.

Notable figures include two different versions of the cast from M*A*S*H, Jay Leno, the cast from Seinfeld, Mr. T, the Three Stooges, Laurel and Hardy, and many, many others. The most interesting figure for sale, in my opinion, is Ward Bond. The auction description states that it is an original Hollywood Wax Museum figure from the museum's opening. However, it looks identical to the one that was at Movieland. They bought several figures from Movieland when it closed, and I think that it is actually from there, and not original to their museum. Even the backdrops are exactly the same, as well as the outfit the figure wears, down to the stains on the brim of the hat! Assuming I am right, that means Movieland Wax Museum Figures that avoided being auctioned off in 2005, will be sold in 2009. I believe the figures to be; Ward Bond, Debbie Reynolds as the Singing Nun, and Will Rogers.

An example of the one of the figures being sold. This is Cassandra Hu from The Scorpion King.

Michelle Pfeiffer from Batman Returns.

One of the stranger auctions is for Granny's original hat from The Beverly Hillbillies. Not the figure, just the hat. (Another figure from Movieland.)

The figures come from their Hollywood and Branson locations, as well as some items from their Guinness World Records museum.
